I will admit it, I just ain't right.
Who in their right mind attempts to change their lifestyle in the middle of the most wonderful time of the year.
Oh the cookies, cakes, pies, hot chocolate, candy, lattes, ice cream, turkey, ham, carbs, carbs, carbs and more carbs. And did I mention pie. PIE.
Seriously I should be committed and checked out.
But so far I have done it. Aside from some slip-ups around Turkey Day (pie is just too good and hey a man's gotta live) I have been moving ahead and to date I have lost 2 pounds (though we shall see about this week). Thanks for the inspiration guys.
Now, building off this past week, this week's goals are.....
Continue to work out at least 3 times a week and keep sugared soda out of my diet. (I worked out 7 times last week - had to counter the pie and carb load and the 2 sodas)
and....
Eat fruit at night in lieu of sweets. Drink 4 glasses of water a day. Do an extra 50 crunches before bed each night.
and....
Don't eat snacks past 8 pm.
And of course it's December 1 and you know that means right ?!?!? The first DC Urban Dad Big Hairy Holiday Fitness Challenge is set to commence.
I told ya it was on the way and I'm a man of my word. I can't back down now. Ya'll would be so disappointed.
And look the rules are simple - good stuff for ya equals points and bad stuff takes 'em away. The one with the most points at the end wins.
Everyone will start with 100 points (I'm generous). Then it breaks down like this...
-
Each time you workout (must be at least 20 minutes) = add an extra 15 points
- If you work out more than 3 times in a week = add extra 15 points
- Each piece of fruit (apple, banana, grapes, etc.) = add an extra 5 points
- Fresh vegetables each day = add an extra 5 points
- More than 4 glasses of water a day = add an extra 5 points
- Each piece of candy or cookie = takeaway 5 points
- Each sugared soda = takeaway 5 points
- Ice Cream or Lattes = takeaway 10 points
- Cake and pie = takeaway 15 points
- Lunch or Dinner at a fast food joint = takeaway 15 points
Each Monday email me your current score (yep, we are using the honor code here folks) and I will post the leaderboard for all the world to see.
The Challenge will officially commence this Friday, December 5th and end Monday, January 5th where I will declare the winner (who will win our undying respect and admiration and maybe a small trophy)
So tell me.....
How many of you are in and ready to play? You are either with us or against us.
