To blog or not to blog
About a month ago, my wife and I were looking for some new shrubbery and bulbs to plant in our back yard. Although we have two Home Depots less than twenty minutes from our house, we live in the heart of Washington, DC and prefer to support the local business owners. We did a Google search, looking for Johnson's and Garden District. Both organizations have excellent products and offer tremendous customer service. So what separates the two from each other?
That would be Joe's Blog. Joe Caramack a native of San Antonio has always loved gardening. After finishing his landscape studies he opened up Garden District. In June of this year, he started a blog simply titled Joe's Blog. The end goal - to share his thoughts and advice on gardening. Simple, sweet and powerful.
Along the same lines, my colleague over at Digital Phocus has posted a small bit on the Chris Anderson's book The Long Tail and how a VC named Susan WU and her company, Charles River Ventures (CRV), are reaching out to their customer, the entrepreneur, by harnessing the web.
In the end, it's the businesses that take the time and effort to reach out to their consumers that will win over those that just sit back and wait for customer's to come in the front door. Kudos to the Susan Wu's and the Joe Caramack's of the worlds. You are an example to those that have yet to get what this is all about.

Thank you for the kind words. :)
